Get started

Quickstart: CLI

genesis is the OneOS command line. Sign in once in your browser, or set an API key for scripts and CI.

1. Install

npm install -g @lifesi/genesis-cli@0.1.12
genesis --version

Or run it without installing: npx -y @lifesi/genesis-cli@0.1.12 --help. It runs on Node.js 20.19 or later; tested on 20, 22 and 24.

2. Sign in

genesis login
genesis whoami

An API key in GENESIS_API_KEY (or --api-key) takes precedence over a saved login. genesis logout forgets the login.

3. Check the gateway

4. Create a project, store a secret, clean up

Deletion finishes in the background; until it does, the name quickstart stays taken, so use a new name for a second run.

Secret values are read from a file (--value-file) or stdin (--stdin), never from an argument, so they stay out of your shell history.

5. Script it

--json prints machine-readable output on success and failure. Errors carry the status, message and request_id, plus the gateway's code and required_scope when the gateway raised them:
